The 3rd International Seminar for Research on Childhood Acute Respiratory Infections in Asia and Africa was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

On the first day, researchers from Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, and Zambia had a scientific meeting, shared the ongoing research projects, and discussed about the future research plans. On the 2nd day, participants visited a rural health center, Puskemas Sleman, outside of Yogyakarta to learn more about the rural health system in Indonesia.

05/19-25/2019 We invited Dr. Evans Mwila Mpabalwani, Associate Professor of Paediatrics & Child Health, University of Zambia, School of Medicine, to Japan and had discussions on childhood acute respiratory diseases in Zambia.

2/28-3/2/2019  2nd International seminar for research on childhood acute respiratory infections in Asia and Africa was held in Sendai and Yamagata, Japan.

During the seminar, three special lectures were given by Dr. Motoi Suzuki of Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University; Dr. Socorro Lupisan of Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, Philippines; and Dr. Alex Cook of National University of Singapore. Researchers and students had an opportunity to have discussions with the speakers about various aspects of their researches. Four representatives from each member country in the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Zambia gave a presentation and shared their ongoing researches. Participants visited the Yamagata Prefectural Institute of Public Health and learned about measles and tuberculosis in Yamagata.

2017/10/24-10/26  1st International seminar for research on childhood acute respiratory infections in Asia and Africa was held in the Philippines

During the meeting in Manila, researchers from Japan and the Philippines shared the results and updates of their research on childhood pneumonia in the Philippines. And then, researchers from Cambodia, Indonesia and Zambia presented recent data and research initiatives on childhood pneumonia in their respective countries. Afterwards, discussions were made on possible topics for collaborative research activities, expected outcomes and benefits when joining the network, and exchange of researchers between Japan and counterpart countries.
After the meeting, Cambodian, Indonesian and Zambian researchers visited a research site in Biliran Island and discussions were made with medical staff about research activities on childhood pneumonia at the study site.

Four researchers from TUGSM discussed on research plan with staff at UIN and visited Jawa Barat which is a proposed research site.
